It was the 35th IPL 2016 match to be held in Bangalore. The Supergiants amassed 191 runs after winning the toss and electing to bowl first, with Ajinkya Rahane leading the way with a 48-ball 74. The only other disciplined bowler for the RCB that day was Shane Watson, who finished his four-over session with an economy of 6.00 and three wickets. Kohli and KL Rahul started the batting as the team attempted to chase 192 runs to win. Their partnership lasted until the eleventh over, at which point they had combined for 94 runs. KL Rahul produced a meek 38 from 35 balls, while Kohli smashed eight fours and seven sixes to remain undefeated at 108.
